Biography . . .
. . . Career

I have worked for the County of Nevada for 34 years; 23 of those as the elected Treasurer and Tax Collector.

I began my career in 1967 for the late Mr. Elton A. "Bub" Tobiassen, Assessor. I left my career to provide full-time parenting to my daughter Cynthia for four years.

I resumed my public service career in 1974, for the late Mrs. Marcella J. Carson, Treasurer & Tax Collector. Mrs. Carson retired in December of 1982 and gave me her personal endorsement in my first campaign.

June 6, 2006
I eagerly seek re-election to continue serving.

I was born in Hannibal, Missouri on Feb. 22, 1947 and I live in Grass Valley. I am married to Paul Appleby and combined we have three children and three grandchildren.

I am the eldest of four children, the others being Dick Turnbough of North San Juan, Rita Behr of Grass Valley and Bill Turnbough of Yuba City. Our mother, Cynthia Brem, lives in Grass Valley. See photographs below.

I enjoy crafts such as crocheting baby blankets, doilies, and eyelash leis. On Sundays I can be found in Rough & Ready where I play fiddle with the Fruit Jar Pickers.

Paul and I enjoy developing websites for select organizations in our community. Between the two of us we constantly enhance my office's website as we make it more intuitive and interactive for the property owners.
