Chocolate Layered Refrigerator Dessert

A wonderfully COLD summer dessert!
A welcome holiday dessert!
LAYER ONE:
Mix together

  1 cup chopped walnuts or pecans
  1 Tablespoon Cinnamon (optional)
  2 Tablespoon brown sugar (optional)
  1 ½ cup all-purpose flour
  1 ½ sticks of butter

Press into the bottom of a 9 x 13 pan,
Bake 20 minutes at 350 degrees, then cool completely.
While the crust is baking, prepare the following:


LAYER TWO:
Mix together

  1 (12 ounce) package cream cheese (softened)
  1 cup confectioners' sugar
  2 teaspoons dried orange peel (optional)
  1-1/2 Cup of Cool Whip, thawed


LAYER THREE:
Mix together, then refrigerate until it's very thick

  2 small packages instant chocolate or chocolate fudge pudding
  3 cups milk


LAYER FOUR:

  Remaining CoolWhip
  Sprinkle with ½ cup of nuts.



Refrigerate. Serves 12



Note: Substitute the chocolate pudding with these other puddings.:
      Banana Cream, add a layer of sliced bananas.
      Butterscotch, perhaps add a little rum flavoring
      Coconut Cream, sprinkle with toasted coconut flakes
      French Vanilla, add a layer of any canned fruit pie filling
      Lemon, sprinkle with lemon zest
      Pistachio
      White Chocolate, sprinkle with chocolate flakes

      Vanilla Pudding, add a layer of Cherry Pie Filling, then the last layer of CoolWhip, sprinkle with nuts
